Visit to CHOUMALLAH PALACE

On 28th Nov “Pracheena” OGS . Heritage Club members visited “Choumallh Palace”’Chahar’ means foure and Mahal means Palace. The name Choumallah this means four palaces.

A pride of the UNESCO heritage monument Choumallah has been the Asia Pacific Merit Award for maintaince of culture and traditions.

As we went to the Choumallah Palace. We Saw that the constructional style had a unique touch to it. There was a certain elegance about the palace which made a great monument to look at the style of architecture was something we totally got enthralled by.

The Grand DurbarHall is the centre piece of the palace. The beautiful and amazing influence of persion history and architecture with lovely domes and majestic arches complement the decorative stucco work.

Visit to Archeological Museum

The "Pracheena" Oxford Grammar School heritage club members visited Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy state Archeological Museum in Public Gardens on 3rd September 2012 as a part of Heritage club activity

Club members observed the Architectural beauty with keen interests . They noted few points of history with great enthusiasm. The students have come to know the importance of the history and glorious paintings of Ajanta. They also saw the various Artifacts used by kings of 6th to 11th AD, brass ware , copper ware , gold jewellery etc..,

Visit to Historical Ramappa Temple

Heritage is a historical aspect which passes on from one generation to another. It is the duty every citizen to protect, preserve and pass on to next generation. With that view 12 students, 11 parents and 4 teachers visited Ramappa temple to attend "Ramappa Parirakshna Samithi"s meeting and other activities.

Ramappa has great architectural legacy which has to be preserved. The president of the meeting Sri.M.Vedkumar elaborated how intangible and tangible heritage are to be preserved, Sri Chukka Ramaiah said that protecting the temples architecture is a cultural struggle one gains confidence through ones history, heritage and culture. All the speakers appreciated the efforts of Sri.J.Tirumala Rao for arranging a meeting and other activities in the temple.Two books on Ramappa were released and many research papers were presented.

The OGS team gained valuable knowledge and observed the minute aspects of architectural beauty of the temple.

World Environment Day
&
12th Annual Day celebrations of FFBH on 5th June 2012

On 05/06/2012 FORUM FOR BETTER HYDERABAD, celebrated the "World Environment Day" and its "12th Annual day celebrations at ASCI Hyd". Teachers Smt V.Satya Prasanna, Smt Bharati and, five 10th class students Participated in the function.

Students of OGS presented the welcome song related to environment.

Sri O.M.Debara presented the forum's annual report followed by releasing of souvenir of FFBH by Sri.Hanmantha Rao renowed economist of India. Many dignitaries elaborated the need for environmental protection, conservation etc… Forest conservation, water bodies, traffic conservation, rehabilitation of slums, protecting birds and animal population were some of the topics discussed.

Eminent personalities of FFBH like Sri.Mandal, Sri.O.M.Dabera, and president Sri M.Vedakumar elaborated how the water bodies of Hyderabad were formed, protected, diverted and threw light on the different activities of FFBH.

Sri.M.Vedkumar, President of FFBH replied to the questions of audience on lakes & water bodies of Hyderabad. He declared "Green Economy" is the theme of FFBH - 2012.

The programme concluded with the national anthem presented by students of Oxford Grammar School.
