Our House System: Fostering Spirit, Leadership, and Unity
At Oxford Grammar High School, we believe that education goes beyond academics. It is about shaping well-rounded individuals who embody teamwork, resilience, leadership, and compassion. One of the most vibrant aspects of our school culture is the House System, which brings students together in a spirit of friendly competition, collaboration, and community building.
Our school is proudly divided into four dynamic houses β Red Roses, Yellow Sunflowers, Blue Bells, and Green Champaks. Each house represents a unique set of values, symbolized by their distinctive colors and floral emblems. From academic competitions to sports, cultural events to social outreach, the houses play an integral role in school life.
Red Roses β House of Courage and Passion
Red Roses represent passion, strength, and courage. Just like the vibrant red rose that stands tall with pride, this house symbolizes bravery and a never-give-up attitude. Members of Red Roses are known for their leadership spirit, energy, and a deep sense of commitment to whatever they take on.
Students in Red Roses excel in taking initiative, displaying boldness in challenges, and inspiring others to lead with confidence. Whether itβs debates, dramatics, or sports β they bring their fiery enthusiasm to the fore.
Motto: "With courage, we bloom."
Yellow Sunflowers β House of Optimism and Joy
Bright, cheerful, and full of positivity β the Yellow Sunflowers house embodies happiness, warmth, and optimism. Like the sunflower always facing the sun, students in this house are encouraged to face challenges with a smile and a hopeful heart.
Sunflowers are known for their cheerful presence in cultural events, team-building activities, and community service. They believe in the power of teamwork, inclusion, and the ability to uplift others around them.
Motto: "Shining bright, spreading light."
Blue Bells β House of Wisdom and Serenity
Calm yet confident, the Blue Bells house is known for its focus on intellect, peace, and creative expression. Representing the calming blue color, this house believes in thoughtful action and reflective learning. Students in Blue Bells are often at the forefront of academic excellence, arts, and innovation.
They value grace under pressure, mindfulness, and intellectual curiosity. The serene strength of this house enables students to handle tasks with balance and quiet determination.
Motto: "With grace, we grow."
Green Champaks β House of Growth and Harmony
Named after the fragrant and sacred Champak flower, the Green Champaks house stands for nature, harmony, and resilience. Students in this house are nurtured to be environmentally conscious, kind, and deeply rooted in values.
Green Champaks emphasize personal growth, empathy, and sustainability. Whether participating in eco-club projects, organizing tree-plantation drives, or promoting wellness and kindness, this house leads the way in making a meaningful impact.
Motto: "Rooted in values, reaching for the sky."
House Events and Competitions
Throughout the academic year, our house system comes alive with a wide range of inter-house competitions such as:
Sports tournaments and Athletics meets
Elocution, debates, quizzes, and storytelling contests
Dance, music, drama, and art competitions
Environmental awareness drives and social service initiatives
Talent shows, exhibitions, and celebration days
These events foster a sense of healthy competition, sportsmanship, and belonging. Students from all grades work together, mentored by dedicated house in-charges and captains, strengthening inter-grade bonds and leadership skills.
Building Character, One House at a Time
At Oxford Grammar High School, the house system is more than a tradition β itβs a journey of character development, self-discovery, and community spirit. Whether you're a Red Rose, Yellow Sunflower, Blue Bell, or Green Champak, you are part of something larger β a vibrant, supportive family that helps every student thrive.
Together, we celebrate diversity, unity, and the shared goal of becoming responsible, confident, and compassionate global citizens.
